Cardiff City will be without Rubin Colwill and Dylan Lawlor for their Championship match against Middlesbrough this Saturday. The absences are a boost for a Boro side looking to maintain their strong position in the table.

Colwill is definitely unavailable as he continues his recovery from an ankle problem. Lawlor sustained a hamstring injury during Cardiff's recent win over Watford and has been ruled out.

Cardiff manager Brian Barry-Murphy provided the updates. "Rubin won’t be available for Saturday, that’s definite," he said. There is better news regarding striker Yousef Salech, who is making good progress. "We’ll assess Yousef and see how he is, but he’s making really good progress," Barry-Murphy added, indicating the forward has a chance to feature at the Riverside.

Captain Calum Chambers, however, remains a long way from a return despite some improvement in his knee condition. Barry-Murphy said it was impossible to put a timescale on his comeback.

Middlesbrough go into the fixture second in the Championship with 21 points from 10 games, having won their last two matches. They will be looking to capitalise on Cardiff's selection issues as they aim to close the two-point gap to leaders Swansea.

The match kicks off at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday.
