Middlesbrough have added to their academy ranks with the signing of 16-year-old Northern Ireland youth international Eamonn Tohill on a scholarship deal. The teenager came through the ranks at Cliftonville and made his first-team debut from the bench late on in a 5-2 win over Glenavon in December, just three months after turning 16. Tohill is a Northern Ireland Under-17 international and scored in a 2-1 win over Armenia that helped seal a place in the elite round of the Euro 2026 qualifiers. The forward will link up with the academy and initially play for the Under-18s. Boro have a history of developing young players, with recent signings including Djed Spence and Isaiah Jones. The club's head of academy recruitment, Martin Carter, is constantly on the lookout for talented young players to add to their ranks. Middlesbrough are currently 4th in the Championship with 3 points from 1 game, recent form W. They face Blackburn at home on 2 March 2027. Goals this season: 2 scored, 1 conceded (+1 goal difference).
