Middlesbrough take their league-leading form to Wales this week for a Championship clash with Wrexham. The match at the Racecourse Ground kicks off at 7.45pm on Wednesday, with Boro arriving on the back of a 3-0 win over Charlton. Their next fixture after this trip is a home match against Norwich City on Saturday.
Michael Carrick's side are top of the table with 28 points from 13 games, two points clear of Swansea. Their recent run of four wins and a draw from the last five has stays, and they have scored 30 goals already this campaign. Striker Will Lankshear is a major reason for that firepower, having netted 13 times in 13 appearances, including a brace in the weekend's victory. The team's attacking efficiency is further highlighted by their average of 2.31 goal minutes per game, a key metric in their sustained pressure on opponents.
Wrexham's tough run
Wrexham present a different challenge, entering the fixture on a run of five matches without a win. They have lost four of those, including a 1-0 defeat at Sheffield United last time out. Their last victory was a 4-1 home win over Preston on October 17. The two sides last met in August in the League Cup, where a single Middlesbrough goal was enough to secure a 1-0 win at the Riverside.
Matchday travel for fans
For travelling Boro supporters, the club has highlighted the park and ride service available in Wrexham. The service runs between the council office on Ruthin Road and the Racecourse Ground before and after every home match. "Why not add the park and ride into your matchday routine," a statement from Wrexham Council suggested.
Buses run every 20 minutes from 5.45pm before the match, with the last bus departing at 7.05pm. A return journey costs just £1 for adults, with day tickets valid until 11.59pm. After the final whistle, buses will depart from Mold Road every 20 minutes from 9.45pm, with the last service at 11.05pm. The car park at the facility closes at 11.45pm.
Ticket information confirms adult entry with a Wrexham Zone Ticket is priced at £3, with child tickets costing £2. Middlesbrough's last outing saw them field a 4-2-3-1 formation against Charlton, with Lankshear leading the line supported by Tommy Conway and Riley McGree. The team now focuses on maintaining their momentum at the top of the standings with another positive result in North Wales, before turning their attention to the weekend visit of Norwich.
