Middlesbrough's Anthony Lenton has passed away at the age of 27 after a nine-year battle with leukemia. The Championship club's statement expressed condolences to Lenton's family and friends. Lenton was a promising player for Middlesbrough in England's Championship (2nd division). He was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 18 in 2017, shortly after signing his first professional contract with Middlesbrough. Despite facing numerous difficulties and setbacks due to his cancer battle, he never lost his positive energy. In his later years, he spent a lot of time as a coach and even worked with Middlesbrough's youth team for a period. His dedication to the development of young players will be remembered forever. Middlesbrough wished him a speedy recovery. Before the opening match of the 2017–2018 Championship season, players wore shirts emblazoned with his name during warm-ups. However, he ultimately passed away. Even during his illness, Lenton remained devoted to Middlesbrough. In March of this year, he was selected as the first recipient of the Middlesbrough Academy Alumni Award.
