Middlesbrough have pulled off a coup by signing Hull City striker Kyle Joseph on a four-year deal. The 24-year-old forward arrives at Riverside for an undisclosed fee believed to be around £4 million.

What’s the deal?

Joseph joins Tony Pulis’s side after eight goals and five assists in 44 appearances for The Tigers during the 2025/26 campaign. The Championship outfit sit fifth on 80 points from 46 games, 15 points behind Coventry, with a +25 goal difference. Middlesbrough’s recent run has been brutal: they’ve lost four on the spin, including a 1-0 reverse at Hull City on May 23, 2026.

Why does Joseph fit?

The new striker insists he’s ready to deliver. “I’m so delighted to sign for this massive club,” he told Boro’s media team. “It’s such an ambitious club and I really want to help it achieve its goals. I’m an all-action centre forward, but most importantly I want to score goals and help the team win games.” His arrival gives Pulis another option up top as pre-season training in Portugal beckons.

What happens next?

Joseph is expected to link up with his new teammates in Portugal this week. The club’s next outing is a friendly against Espanyol at home on August 1, 2026. Boro’s league standing remains fragile: they’re five points off the play-offs and still nursing a four-game losing streak that’s left fans restless.
